The team at Time To Pet has been hard at work making the pet parent experience even easier for your clients. Today, we are very excited to announce a new tool called “one-time activation links”. This tool makes it incredibly simple and easy for your pet parent clients to activate and access their client accounts.
Previously, pet parent clients were given a “temporary password” when their accounts were created. This temporary password would need to be copied and pasted in order to log in for the first time.
We've updated pet parent welcome emails to eliminate this step. Instead, welcome emails now show a one-time activation link that your clients can simply click to activate their accounts. When they click the link, they will be signed directly in to the client portal and be prompted to set their password before continuing on to the rest of the Pet Parent Onboarding steps.
The one-time activation link in the welcome email can only be used once. If the client clicks the link again at a later time, they will be prompted to sign in with their password, or they can request a new activation link from the login page. These one-time activation links are unique and contain a secure token that is used to identify and verify the client when they follow the link. Because the token becomes invalid after it is used once, the client's account will remain secure even if the activation link falls into the wrong hands at a later time.
This one-time activation link is a similar concept to the temporary password in previous welcome emails (but much more simple). Once the client sets their password, the temporary password is no longer valid. However, the tokens in one-time activation links are longer and thus much more secure than temporary passwords, while being easier to use.
One-time activation links are rolling out today so we strongly encourage you to review your “Custom Messages” section in Time To Pet (found at the bottom of Company Settings -> Messaging) and update your “Email – Client Welcome Email” if you have previously customized this.
