What caused you to get into pet sitting/dog walking?
After 15 years of working in corporate America, I decided I needed to do something with purpose. I had helped line the pockets of so many other people, which in my youth was actually quite fun. As I got older, I realized my potential was being wasted for the benefit of others. I have always had a dog or three in my life, and my world revolves around them. While out on a walk with my now business partner (and the dogs, of course), I said, "Why don't we just start our own pet care company?!" And honestly, the rest is history! That night, I registered The Doody Queens as an LLC and began building our website. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping others with their pet care needs and knowing that you are taking care of all the fur babies as if they were your own.
What is the most fulfilling part of owning a pet sitting/dog walking business?
The most fulfilling part is truly knowing that our clients are trusting us with their pets and their homes. To know that we will honor their requests and make sure to keep their loved one safe and happy. Waking up to all of the dogs' faces is the best; some even get to share the bed with me. We have a very spoiled bunch over here, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
What is the most challenging?
The most challenging part is sharing in the heartache of a pet's passing. I never thought about that when starting the business. We fall in love with every single dog, cat, & rabbit we care for. So, when they pass, we always feel that pain.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
In five years, I hope to live on a farm with tons of acreage, where the dogs can run free and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. There is nothing like fresh air and sunshine to feed your soul. Hopefully, we will have chickens and gardens galore, too.
What has Time To Pet changed the most about how you run your business?
Time To Pet has made it possible to seamlessly manage clients, billing, scheduling, messaging, & pay stub generation all in one place. When I started my business, I knew I immediately needed to have an excellent CRM system in place. It would be impossible to be efficient without Time To Pet.
