What caused you to get into pet sitting/dog walking?
It's my dream job! I wanted to do it for about 15. years before I actually started. I realized the office job was right for me. I wasn't feeling good mentally or physically. I didn't have my parents' support because they wanted me to have the steady income and benefits. I finally told them that I needed to stop listening to them.
What is the most fulfilling part of owning a pet sitting/dog walking business?
I directly see the impact I am on having on pet owners. It means so much to them that they have a safe, reliable option if they have to go out of town or if their dog needs a mid-day walk. They are so grateful and I feel like I've become a part of their families and they treat me as such.
What is the most challenging?
The holidays are the most challenging. I work every day, including holidays. It's hard seeing clients go off to be with their families and I have to find some other time to see my family. I still wouldn't trade it for anything
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I am about to hire my first employee! In 5 years, I want to be running an award-winning business centered around respect and kindness for my clients', their pets, my employees, and me!! I want to be the # 1 go-to business for pets' needs in Richmond, VA as well as the best business to work for. I want to spin off into private pet transportation. Especially, international pet transportation!
What has Time To Pet changed the most about how you run your business?
Time To Pet has allowed me to focus on what I do best - taking care of pets and giving my clients peace of mind. I'd much rather be walking a dog or scooping litter than doing admin. Time to Pet pretty much does my admin for me. Plus, they allow me to run reports so I can look at my data and better align my services with my clients' needs.
