What caused you to get into pet sitting/dog walking?
A position became available with Live Love Pet Care as the manager. I was humbled and excited to accept!
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for animals of all kinds since I was a young child. My dream was to grow up and have a farm where all the abused, neglected, one-eyed, 3-legged animals could feel safe and loved. I think my dream was much bigger than I could handle alone. Next step, reach out to a rescue group who needed help with fostering. That is where Live Love Animal Rescue came into play. They were looking for someone to foster a little Chihuahua that was burned in a house fire. Of course, I became a “foster failure” on my first try and ended up adopting the little dog. I have been with Live Love Animal Rescue since 2015, in a variety of different roles. I’ve fostered many dogs in need, (and even adopted a few), managed the Live Love Pet Care business, and currently volunteer my time as an Adoption Coordinator.
In 2020 we closed Live Love Pet Care due to Covid, as many of our clients were working from home. It was difficult losing all of our furry four-legged relationships. In the back of my head, I was looking forward to the day we could resume our pet care services again. So, fast forward to October of 2022, it was then I decided to buy the pet care business and start it up again. We have since then reestablished the relationship with many of our previous clients, and are continually developing new relationships.
What is the most fulfilling part of owning a pet sitting/dog walking business?
I am continually amazed by the unconditional love an animal is able to give and consider them a pure gift. Because of this, I feel it’s my part to “pay it forward” and help as many animals as I can feel this in return.
What is the most challenging?
The most challenging part of owning your own business is making sure you are consistently keeping your client’s needs first and foremost (human and four legged).
It is our top priority to provide our clients with the peace of mind that our team will not only share their common passion for animal care, but we hold ourselves accountable to show up on time and love their pets as our own. I’m proud to say we have been recognized as the “Neighborhood Fave” two years in a row (2022 & 2023) from our neighbors on Nextdoor!
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I can see Live Love Pet Care expanding our choice of services, not only focusing on dog walking and pet care, but incorporating the overall wellbeing of each animal. I would eventually like to offer in-home massages, holistic physical therapy and essential oil therapy.
What has Time To Pet changed the most about how you run your business?
Our whole team, along with our clients, find the portal and programing extremely easy to use. I personally love the fact that I can quickly look at any type of financial reporting (especially during tax time), to get an accurate reading on what has taken place each month, year, etc. I also like the automatic billing of clients - that alleviates a huge stress factor for me since I don’t have a lot of spare time to sit at my computer and figure out invoicing.
